Finished documentary by H. James Gilmore and Neil D. Novello, produced by Acadia Pictures, about the much documented Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Documentary. This is the fullest existing edited film documentary about this significant project. Documents the Music Hall's Shipyard Project, a two year (1994-1996) endeavor produced and coordinated by the Music Hall of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in partnership with Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, reflecting on the role of the 200-year-old Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the community's history, collective identity, and civic life. The project culminated in a week of public activities engaging hundreds of participants in the city of Portsmouth and at the adjacent Shipyard, a military installation in Kittery, Maine. Documents varied events of process, outcome, collaboration, and community encounter. Interviews with Liz Lerman, collaborators, and project participants interspersed throughout.
