Summary
At the culmination of its four-year, 15-city Hallelujah Project, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange partnered with Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at Maryland to present "Hallelujah/USA," consisting of two programs of choreography created at project's various sites, bringing participants and local performers from these communities to be part of the "Hallelujah/USA" company. This was the first of the two programs. 00:00:24 - Opening credits; 00:01:22 - "Hallelujah: In Praise of Fertile Fields," premiered at Jacob's Pillow, Becket, Massachusetts in 2000. Composer Robert Een and his ensemble perform live from a box at house right (not visible on the video); 00:40:25 - "Hallelujah: In Praise of Animals and Their People," premiered in Washington, D.C., in 1998; 01:13:22 - "Hallelujah: In Praise of Paradise Lost and Found," premiered in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2001, with participants from both Ann Arbor and Detroit. Singers and instrumental ensemble of Detroit's Rudy Hawkins Choir featured, directed by Dr. Hawkins from the pit.
