(1) Sen. John C. Stennis (D-MS) believes "divisive criticism" of the Vietnam War "serves to reinforce the belief of the Asiatic Communist that we are lacking in national purpose" and lowers the morale of our troops (4 cuts, 2/17). (2) Sen. Vance Hartke (D-IN) says that the vote on the Vietnam appropriation bill will in no sense be considered a policy test (2 cuts, 2/18).
