Martin Luther King, accompanied by Walter Fauntroy and Ralph Abernathy, met with Sen. Hubert Humphrey (D-MN) and other leaders in the Senate’s civil rights battle. A news conference was arranged for afterwards: King announces plans for “direct action” protests if Southern senators filibuster against the bill as well as actions to see that the bill is widely implemented when it passes. Then, an episode of "Washington Viewpoint," already in progress. Anne Corrick and Pete Clapper interview Rep. Peter Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) about bills being debated.
