Summary
The Sustenance Project was the community residency project that paralleled themes and borrowed content from "Shehechianu," the three-part concert dance that Lerman choreographed between 1995 and 1997. Funded in part by the Covenant Foundation, the Sustenance Project was proposed to numerous presenters and came to its fullest fruition with this presentation at the Mayfair Festival in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Based in the questions "What sustains you in times of trouble?" and "What gives you breath?" it combines choreography created in collaboration with community members with sections from "Shehechianu: Faith and Science on the Midway." Program: "Sustenance Dance" performance with Dance Exchange and Allentown community members; Beginning of event. Lerman greets audience, assisted by dancer Jeffrey Gunshol.
