Summary
Ronald F. Minor was interviewed for the Joseph "Tex" Gathings oral history recordings in 2022.

In this oral history, NBC television director and producer Ronald F. Minor talks about his memories of Gathings. He recalls listening to Gathings on WOOK radio as a young resident of Washington, D.C. and also watching "The Teenarama Dance Show" on television when he was in school. Sometimes he would recognize other students from his school who danced on the televised show. Mr. Minor also worked at WOOK radio in the 1970s and years later he met Gathings who was well known at the station. He shares that they lived in the same neighborhood, as well as impressions of Gathings' personality from conversations they had at the grocery store. He recalls that "Teenarama" unified the students in the community even if they were from different schools. He feels that many in the broadcasting business looked up to Gathings as a role model who worked in the field and then taught classes so others could learn more about it.
