Summary
Social studies series for intermediate/middle school study of Maryland's geography, history, and economy. Host John (J.G.) Hertzler drives a 1972 Plymouth Satellite station wagon through the state, stopping to explore the various regions. In Program 5, students from South Dorchester County High School, staff members of Skipjack magazine, are seen interviewing local people who make their living from crabbing, crab picking, oystering and boat building. Opening includes footage of the second Chesapeake Bay Bridge under construction. Program 6 includes visits to a tobacco farm in Charles County, the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center in Prince George’s County, the Calvert Marine Museum and the Chesapeake Biological Lab in Calvert County, and the U.S. Naval Academy in Anne Arundel County.
