A View of the Renaissance
- Date
1970/1979
- Summary
-
Looks at Renaissance Florence through Vasari's eyes, and shows how he built his art history theories from the manor works of art and artistic events. Also stresses Vasari's limitations and shows how his admiration of the artistic achievements of his own time often blinded him to the art of the generations that preceded him. This film has been digitized because it has a high level of Vinegar Syndrome (chemical deterioration). That condition will prevent any captured images from being 100% perfect. Our goal is to present the content of the film in a digital format that is as good and the least distracting as possible.
