NFCB marathon isa program aired during the National Federation of Community Broadcasters' nationwide radio marathon, an event in which noncommercial alternative radio stations across the United States stop regular programming to ask listeners to pledge funds to alternative and community stations. This recording includes a program from an unnamed station features an interview with a woman discussing her experiences with poverty prior to World War II, circa 1976. It also includes a program produced by Sunrise Communications in Lincoln, Nebraska, in which radio announcers ask listeners a series of standard questions provided by the marathon‚s organizers regarding an upcoming presidential election. The final fifteen minutes of the recording consists of unidentified American folk and bluegrass performances, circa 1976.
