One of three regional documentaries produced to complement Ken Burn's "The Civil War," focusing on events in Maryland. This episode consists of footage of Civil War reenactors with songs of the period on the soundtrack, as well as actors reading contemporary letters, journals, diaries, and poetry. Spirituals performed by The Victory Ensemble (Baltimore). The series won a regional Emmy in 1991. Host: Lary Lewman. Produced by Helen Jean Burn.
