Summary
Mercury flight audio: Live transmissions between astronaut John Glenn in Friendship 7 and ground control stations, just before and during reentry into the atmosphere. Colonel Glenn describes the "fireball outside" and, later adds, "It's a little hot in here." As splashdown approaches, communications with the USS Noa, a Navy destroyer code-named "Steelhead," begins. Long periods of silence between messages.
