Summary
John Rousselot, a former California Republican congressman, was national public relations director for the far-right John Birch Society at a time when conservatives were backing away from the organization. He called a press conference in Washington, DC to reply to criticism of the society by Republican leaders. He denies charges that the John Birch Society is seeking to infiltrate the Republican party, and asserts that the society is an educational organization, not a political one.
