Summary
Surveys the accomplishments of the Greek classical age, between 500 B.C. and the death of Alexander. Discusses Greek art and literature of the period as well as Greek thought, linking the classical age to basic elements of Western Civilization. Burstall's conversations with Greek scholar Kenneth Dover are interspersed with scenes from Greek drama, photographs of ancient ruins, artefacts, and sculptures and scenes from recent Greek history and modern Greek culture.
