Summary
Oral history interview with Edward Welsh conducted by Marlene Mayo on April 6, 1979. Edward Welsh (1909 - March 25, 1990) was born in Morristown, NJ and received his bachelor's at Lafayette College in economics and sociology. He went on to receive his master's in international economics at Tufts University and his PhD in economics from Ohio State during the 1930s. He then taught at the university level until 1942 when he joined the Office of Price Administration. He remained there until 1947, when he went to Japan as the Chief of the Economic and Scientific Section's Anti-Trust and Cartels Division. He stayed in Japan for three and a half years. In 1953, he was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Aeronautics and Space Council by President Kennedy. After retiring, he was a National Aeronautics and Space Administration consultant until about 1983. Edward Welsh passed away at the age of 81.
