Summary
The life and music of composer George Gershwin are honored in this 90-minute program. This half-hour focuses first on Gershwin's opera "Porgy and Bess" and then his film scores. Todd Duncan, who sang Porgy in the original production, shares his memories. Archival photos and clips alternate with interviews as well as performances by singer Leslie Uggams. The last four minutes of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" close the program. Host: actor William Hurt.
