Spearheaded by Lerman and the Dance Exchange, the Awakening was a Washington, D.C.-focussed project that sought to observe and address the city's high murder rate among young African American males. This event brings together numerous groups and individuals for performances in the gymnasium of D.C.'s McKinley High School. This recording continues the documentation of the event titled "The Awakening, Part 1," and includes performance by a drill group and the event culmination in a dance for all participants.
