Summary
Two episodes of "Youth on the Air," a weekly, 15-minute program, "the only radio news magazine by and about teenagers," produced by Youth News. In the first episode: a report on self-selected segregation in otherwise integrated high schools; on Klan-related organizations recruiting students on high school and college campuses. Includes interviews with Greg Withrow, president and founder of the White Student Union, and Rhonda Abrams of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai Brith. In the second episode: a report on the alleged dangers of video games. Includes interviews with Jerry Mander, author of 4 Arguments for the Elimination of Television, and behavioral scientist B. David Brooks. A second report considers the issue of "senioritis," declining motivation, and performance in the final months of high school. Toni Slattery anchors the broadcast.
