Alfred "Al" Danegger (1924-2013) was well-known photographer for the University of Maryland where he produced many iconic photographs that stock the University Archives. Danegger was born in Spring Lake, New Jersey. He graduated from Milford High School in 1942 before beginning his higher education at the University of Maryland. However, Danegger only attended for a semester before joining the Army on December 9, 1942. He was placed in the Signal Corps as a combat photographer. After leaving the Army, Danegger continued his education at the University of Maryland to receive a Bachelor's degree and was hired by the Office of University Relations to work as a campus photographer. Danegger also participated in chaperoning many university groups on international adventures. He served twice as the president of the University Photographers Association and as the president of the Maryland Industrial Photographers Association. He passed away in 2013.
