Summary
Jerry Landay reports on changes he experienced in the USSR, particularly Moscow, in this 7-part series. He notes some greater freedom of thought, more and slightly better consumer goods, encouragement of local initiatives, and a renewed passion for culture. "What still seems oppressive to a Westerner is as a new era of freedom to the Russian who remembers the way things were," he says.
