Summary
Oral history interview with Edward Griffin conducted by Marlene Mayo on February 17, 1979. Edward Griffin (1926 - ) was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He remained in Connecticut throughout college, eventually attending Yale University until he was drafted into the Army in 1944. During the Occupation, Griffin used his Japanese language training in Chicago to work at the Osaka, Japan headquarters of the 24th Infantry Division, working an office job that helped the Army keep track of its soldiers. Once returning to the U.S., Griffin studied history at Columbia University and became a historian and was employed by the Department of State.
