Summary
The inauguration of Maryland Governor Parris N. Glendening begins with the swearing-in of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend in a ceremony inside the State House which includes remarks from Rabbi Stuart Weinblatt and Reverend Vashti McKensie. After the swearing-in ceremony, reporters interview politicians and local leaders in attendance. The ceremony then moves outside, with the Dundalk Sweet Adelines International singing the National Anthem, Reverend Grainger Browning giving the convocation, and the Morgan State University Choir sings ‚"Maryland, My Maryland." Other speakers include Dr. Jane Margaret O'Brien, Reverend Grainger Browning, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, Kweisi Mfume, and Reverend Father Sylvester Peterks. The ceremony is followed by interviews with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor and a celebratory parade.
