First hour of a two-hour program, edited from a live, three-hour broadcast that originally aired on December 4, 1972. This hour includes two short films, "Listen" and "We Tiptoed Around Whispering" (written and narrated by Joanne Greenberg). Guests include: Dr. MacKay Vernon, professor of psychology, Western Maryland College, Glen Anderson, Center for Research and Training in Deafness Robert Nagle, Yale University School of Medicine, Fred Schreiber and Don Pettingill, of the National Association for the Deaf, Lee Katz, president, International Association of Parents of Deaf Children, and Marie Davis, Maryland School for the Deaf. Program won the Public Broadcasting Award for Public Service in 1972. Video and audio quality varies.
