First half-hour of a 90-minute special. A prepared segment offers facts and figures about employment in Maryland during the 1980s recession. as well as interviews with five unemployed individuals, each with different perspective. Authorities consulted include Dr. Barbara R. Bergmann, professor at the University of Maryland, noted feminist, and a specialist in economics and social policy. In the live follow-up, host Alan Christian talks with a panel of individuals representing labor, industry, the state and federal government, as well as an audience of concerned citizens. The discussion only begins in this first segment.
