BSO Salutes Maryland
The BSO presented a Maryland Day salute in a live broadcast from Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. More than 2,000 students in grades four through eight attended this music-with-narrative program celebrating 359 years of state history. Co-hosts: Al Sanders, WJZ-TV anchor, and BSO narrator Rheda Becker, with David Lockington, the BSO's Affiliate Artist/National Endowment for the Arts Conductor. The program ranges from Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" and Hector Berlioz "Roman Carnival Overture" to "Yankee Doodle," "The Star-Spangled Banner," and "Maryland, My Maryland."
