Ian MacKaye, vocalist for the hardcore punk band Minor Threat and co-founder of Dischord Records, is interviewed November 30, 1981 by Shirley Sexton. Sexton was a disc jockey at WMUC, the campus radio station for the University of Maryland. Sexton submitted the cassette to fulfill an assignment for Dr. Hugo Keesing's American Studies course at the University of Maryland in 1981. 

MacKaye discusses the recent breakup of Minor Threat, which would prove to be temporary. He also discusses the new band he had recently started with guitarist Eddie Janney, bassist John Falls, and drummer Jeff Nelson. That band would break up within a few months of the interview, but a posthumous single was released on Dischord in 1991 under the name Skewbald/Grand Union.
