PowerPoint was the first and only live program to focus attention on issues and information of concern to African American listeners using the popular interactive, call-in format. The show, based in Atlanta, aired weekly on Sunday evenings, from 9-11 p.m. It was on the air for seven years in 50 markets on NPR and on Sirius satellite radio (now SiriusXM). Reggie F. Hicks served as Executive Producer. In the first hour, host Kenneth Walker leads a discussion on the issues and cases before the upcoming Supreme Court session, reviewing judges newly named to the federal circuit court, and a protest rally outside the Supreme Court by Black law students. His guests are Elaine R. Jones, director-council of the NAACP Legal and Educational Defense Fund, and Barrett-Osahar Berry, director of the Emerging Leadership Institute. News report by Verna Avery-Brown. In the second hour, Kenneth Walker hosts a tribute to jazz singer Betty Carter, who had just died at the age of 69. Guests include drummer Kenny Washington, Willard Jenkins, jazz radio program host and the former executive director of the National Jazz Service Organization, and Lee Mergner, publisher and editor of "JazzTimes" magazine. Carter's recordings are interspersed throughout. News report by Verna Avery-Brown.
