PowerPoint was the first and only live program to focus attention on issues and information of concern to African American listeners using the popular interactive, call-in format. The show, based in Atlanta, aired weekly on Sunday evenings, from 9-11 p.m. It was on the air for seven years in 50 markets on NPR and on Sirius satellite radio (now SiriusXM). Reggie F. Hicks served as Executive Producer. In the first hour, host Ralph Wiley interviews science fiction author Octavia Butler, recipient of multiple Hugo and Nebula awards, and the first science-fiction writer to receive a MacArthur Fellowship. They also discussed her recently-published novel, "Parable of the Talents" (1998), the second volume in the Earthseed series. News report by Verna Avery-Brown. In the second hour, Ralph Wiley interviews Danzy Senna, author of the novel "Caucasia" (1998), and journalist Farai Chideya, author of "The Color of Our Future: Our Multiracial Future" (1998). News report by Verna Avery-Brown. [The opening of the program is missing. Audio begins abruptly.]
